POSITION DESCRIPTION
DBL Law is seeking a Billing Clerk to add to our team in the Covington, KY office.  This person reports to the Accounting Manager. The primary responsibility of the Billing Clerk is to compile and execute attorney billing.  They Billing Clerk will also perform a variety of other accounting and bookkeeping duties according to established policies and procedures. The person is this position will maintain contact with attorneys, staff, vendors and clients and observe confidentiality of client and firm matters. Additionally, the Billing Clerk will assist with other general office duties.

COMPENSATION: $45,000-60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

JOB DUTIES
  • Compiles and bills attorney hours to clients every month.
  • Reviews and edits pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests.
  • Apply retainer funds as directed by attorney.
  • Process write-offs following firm policy.
  • Ability to execute complex bills in a timely manner (i.e., multiple discounts by matter, split-party billing, preparation of electronic bills).
  • Ability to handle a high volume of bills per month.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with attorneys, secretaries, and clients.
  • Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required.
  • Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.
  • Create billing schedules and various other billing analysis as required.
  • Creates and prints final client billing.
  • Creates and distributes monthly reports.
  • Utilizes computerized accounting/time & billing software programs (LMS, Excel, Word) to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Operates office equipment including personal computer, copiers, fax machines and 10-key calculator.
  • Copying and entering daily cash receipts, entering daily conflict checks and completing monthly reconciliations.
  • Ensures strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist with general office duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
 
  •  Associate or Bachelor's degree, college level accounting classes a plus.
  • Law firm experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize. 
  • Ability to organize workflow and use time efficiently. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, ever changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands. 
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiative.
